When it comes to handling of your property, you are naturally paying a great deal of money to your property management Virginia Beach company. The Company is literally expected to be your eyes and ears. But, you, the owner, should not take these things for granted and, instead, should be actively involved in it. Here are the questions you must ask your company regarding property inspections:
  1. Move-in inspections -The managers must be actively involved in the move-in inspections which must involve the use of digital photographs. These can help settle disputes regarding the damage that actually happened during the tenant's stay.
  2. How often are inspections performed?-This question must be asked by every tenant before moving in. Owners must also supervise the third party vendors that may be hired for repairs, in order to assess the quality of work being performed as well as their cost effectiveness. Tenants also have a right to ask managers whether they would be given prior notice regarding interior inspections of the housing units.
  3. Exterior inspections-Most companies opt to arrange for monthly or quarterly exterior inspections, but these should be altered depending on the age and condition of the property. Owners must also be aware that many of these inspections are just made on a drive-by basis where the inspector does not get out of the car; but some properties may need full scale inspections.
Knowing the answers to these questions is a must for property owners as well as tenants.
